Discover The Trails In The Yellowstone Park

Famous Yellowstone Park is so massive that it has boundaries in three states; Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Its 2.2 million acres is one of the prime outdoor locations in the entire United States. In addition to the 1,100 miles of hiking trails, you will also see gorgeous scenery, and many species of birds and other animals. If you love to hike, Yellowstone is the place for you.

The park rangers remind hikers that while many of the trails are easily assessable and groomed, dangers from wildlife, quick changing weather, and loose rocks always pose a risk. Therefore, it is important this “wilderness” area be respected and the guidelines followed. Typically, by being aware of your surroundings and the current conditions, along with following the regulations of the park, you will be prepared for any situation that might arise.

Day hikes are among the favorite things to do when you visit Yellowstone. You will have your pick of hiking trails, and can easily find one that will fit your level of expertise and endurance. On your way out, visit the park rangers where you can get a map and information about the trails. They will help you choose a trail as well as reminding you to watch for bears, sudden storms, and possible fires. You should automatically take a first aid kit, sunscreen, rain gear, and bug repellant anytime you hike.

For Yellowstone Park, you do not need a permit for hiking although some parks do have this requirement. As you meander among the trails, you will find yourself going into remote sections of the park. Some of the trails are smooth and easy, offering gentle terrain. However, you will also come across trails that require hiking skill and endurance. Therefore, always check the trail conditions before starting out and choose trails that match your hiking ability.

Above all, don’t forget your camera. You’ll want lots of pictures of this scenic wilderness. The park is truly magnificent and you’ll find yourself in beautiful valleys, expanses of wildflowers, and atop small passes. You will undoubtedly see some signs of wildlife and your pictures will remind you of this enchanting experience for the rest of your life.

10 Best Food Sources of Protein
contributor

Protein is a macro nutrient which is composed of amino acids that our body need for it to develop and function properly.

In order to produce all the proteins we need, our bodies have to have 20 different amino acids. The body can manufacture several amino acids for us to have protein but it would not be enough. On its own, our body is only capable of manufacturing 10 of the 20 amino acids. To have the right amount of essential amino acids, we need to consume several specific kinds of vegetables and meat from different animals.

The exact amount of protein a person has to consume each day is still debatable. At present, the recommended daily intake (RDI) of protein is 46 grams for women between 19-70 years of age, and 56 grams for men between 19-70 years of age.

The body converts excess protein into energy. Some people argue if the excess protein harms the liver or not.

We will have problems in our muscles if we lack protein. Protein deficiency can even lead to the malfunction of the entire human body.

Two Categories of Protein in Foods:

1. Complete Proteins. These can come from animal products like fish, chicken, beef, duck, pork, venison, turkey, and bison. These contain all the essential amino acids our body requires to be fit and healthy.

2. Incomplete Proteins. We can get these from plant foods like beans, vegetables, grains, and nuts. These can give us but limited amount of amino acids. Since these cannot give us everything with regards to protein, we must eat these foods in larger quantities and combinations for our bodies to be fit and healthy.

The excellent source of protein is obviously animal products. However, this does not really mean that people who have vegetarian diet will suffer from protein deficiency. They can obtain adequate amount of protein by combining foods like lentils, beans, brown rice, and vegetables. But typically, it does not take more overall caloric intake to get adequate amount of protein if you only eat vegetables. This can be a problem when you are to attain an ideal weight, optimal health, and blood sugar management. This makes protein from animals very essential.

Below is the top 10 sources of high protein.

1. Turkey Breast (and Chicken Breast)
2. fish such as salmon, tuna, or halibut
3. cheese like low-fat mozzarella cheese and cottage cheese
4. pork loin or chops
5. Lean Beef and Veal (Low Fat)
6. Tofu
7. Beans (Mature Soy Beans)
8. Eggs (Especially Egg Whites)
9. milk, soymilk, and yogurt
10. Nuts and Seeds (Pumpkin, Squash, and Watermelon, and Chia seeds, Peanuts, and Almonds)
